Listening to the wisdom of the body
The other night, as I was tending to my two horses—a moment you would think I’d find grounding and peaceful—I became aware of something unusual. As I stopped to fill their water trough, I could feel my heart pounding in my chest. Curious, I glanced at my smartwatch. My heart rate was 135 bpm—much higher than my average of 115 bpm during my morning walk.
It didn’t make sense. There was no stress, no visible threat, and nothing pressing on my mind. Yet my body was reacting as though I were in danger, ready to fight or flee.
Why was my body working so hard? What was it reacting to?
That night, I allowed my curiosity to guide me. I decided to do a Belief Code session on myself, focusing on this physical sensation. Through the process, I uncovered a set of deeply rooted beliefs tied to the feeling:
I need to carry others’ responsibilities.
I exist to please others
I fear being rejected and abandoned by others.
The worst is going to happen.
These were heavy realizations—an intricate web of people-pleasing tendencies and the weight of responsibility I felt toward my animals. My body, it seemed, had associated this task of filling their water with the emotional burden I had unknowingly been carrying.
Using Belief Code, I identified the trapped emotions anchoring these beliefs into place and released them. Over the following week, I noticed subtle shifts. Intentional reflection helped me stay present as new thoughts came to light, and releasing these beliefs allowed me to let go of emotional weight I didn’t even realize I was carrying.
Then, something incredible happened. A week later, as I stood by the trough once again, I realized my heart wasn’t racing anymore. My body no longer perceived this simple task as a threat.
This experience reminded me of the profound wisdom our bodies hold. Sometimes, our physical responses are not just about what’s happening in the present—they’re echoes of old beliefs and emotions waiting to be acknowledged and healed.
The beauty of Belief Code is that it helps you gently uncover these hidden layers. It empowers you to identify the beliefs and emotions keeping you stuck and release them, allowing you to step into greater freedom and authenticity.
If you find your body reacting in ways that don’t match your environment, take a moment to listen. What might it be trying to tell you? Beneath those sensations may lie an opportunity to release what no longer serves you and return to a state of peace and connection.
